Most of the people who go into the field of education are women and my classes reflect that as well.Yana Stetsyukhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16964754246007159175noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8445022831642803479.post-22899631203905114862010-04-07T19:47:02.287-07:002010-04-07T19:47:02.287-07:00I think stereotypes do still exist about 'boy&...I think stereotypes do still exist about 'boy' subjects and 'girl' subjects. Just look at the field we're going into. While there are a lot of males in our class, I have to say, of all the education classes I've taken at RIC, this is by far the most gender-diverse. I've actually taken two teacher-education courses where there were no males. Even the talk about Title IX compares percentages in math and science for boys and girls, but doesn't talk about how many boys take English courses, or theater, or home-ec. I think that Title IX was great for it's work with girls, but I think boys have it hard sometimes too.Bethhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00814091525349431410noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8445022831642803479.post-47627708279758343112010-04-06T16:42:58.001-07:002010-04-06T16:42:58.001-07:00Even though most of the articles were infact outda...Even though most of the articles were infact outdated they still presented great info and I liked what you said about the honors classes, I never thought about it beforeBrynne Bontempohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03796140869894096045noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8445022831642803479.post-30761176919095922712010-04-04T16:21:39.570-07:002010-04-04T16:21:39.570-07:00I read everyone say that their honors classes were...I read everyone say that their honors classes were all girls but I did not experience that in high school. It was more half and half but more boys in honors history. Plus most of the history teachers were men. I do agree that boys seem to get more one on one attention though, even in the classroom I'm in for service learning I'm more one on one with boys rather than the girls because they usually can handle the activities without help.Cassie Rhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09655953634634346967noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8445022831642803479.post-61689997911797799072010-04-04T07:51:11.738-07:002010-04-04T07:51:11.738-07:00Like you said Yana, I also believe these points ma...Like you said Yana, I also believe these points made are true, but in my own experiences I can't find real examples of this.Kyle Allairehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01830533070913951869noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8445022831642803479.post-49401696838099454982010-04-03T20:33:24.561-07:002010-04-03T20:33:24.561-07:00Even though this info. is outdated I think some of...Even though this info. is outdated I think some of it is true. Like certain subjects are considered gender related. For example, child development is linked to girls while gym is linked to boys. However it is clear some of it is outdated.
